Memory and Meditation

If you're having trouble remembering all of the little things that you have to do each day, you aren't alone. The world is such a busy place lately that most of us barely have time to stop and catch our breath. Running around constantly doing various things a few are bound to slip through the cracks.

The problem comes when something important slips through those cracks, like forgetting to pick up your child from the babysitters or leaving an outfit at the cleaners that you need that evening or other things that can completely influence how your day, or even your week, will go.

Well, that's why it's good that there are ways to help your memory along. One of those ways is meditation. I'm not necessarily talking about sitting cross-legged on a rug with your arms folded and chanting, so don't worry. I'm just talking about exercises to clarify your brain.

Start by taking ten minutes a day to sit or lay down and relax. Shut your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Clear your mind a bit. Just a few minutes of that will help you to stay calmer and think more clearly throughout the day.

Of course, you can read books, listen to audio CDs or take classes on meditation, too. How much you want or need to do is up to you. Any meditation at all, though, is bound to improve your memory, help you sleep better at night and, in general, make your life easier.

Find the secret power of your mind.

Did you know that we all carry around with us the secrets to our success in our bodies every day? Yet millions of people don't ever realise or ever discover its full potential. They just go about their daily routine whilst complaining about other people's success in life. Yet if only they stopped and wondered why these other people are successful, and they aren't. Then maybe they too could improve their lives to become successful themselves.

You see one of the reasons these people are stuck in their life style is because they are not using the most powerful tool in their body to improve themselves.

The Mind

The mind is the greatest gift we are all born with, and the most powerful control tool to are body. It controls all our body functions and all our emotions, and it's on the emotional side I want now to discuss with you.

Just think of some of our emotions that we could use to better ourselves if we really tried. Happiness, Love, Passion, Desire, Fulfillment, Attraction, Concentration, Success, Ambition. By learning how to apply these emotions to our daily life or business studies you can achieve all your ambitions you so desire. Just imagine for a moment if you knew how to use them, how they could be put to good use. You start a small business because you'll passionate about it; you love the subject that your business consists of. This gives you a desire to concentrate on fulfilling your ambitions, and becoming successful, which in turn makes you a happy and a loving person.

So why don't every one run a successful business and become financially successful and happy? The answer lies in are emotions in our mind, you see there are other emotions that hold us back from achieving all our ambitions.

Fear

Fear is one of the biggest things that holds us all back. Fear of losing money. Fear of being a failure. Fear of moving out of our comfort zones. Fear of being laughed at if we fall flat on our face in business. Fear of facing the public. Fear of communicating with the public or media. Fear of talking in public events.

Anxiety

Anxiety of getting your business wrong. Anxiety of not having a full understanding of your business. Anxiety of sinking in a sea of misunderstanding and confusion.

Lack of Confidence

A lack of confidence is brought about by anxiety and fear. If we can face our demons and overcome these emotions that hold us back, then confidence will return, and we can do this best through education and training.

There are many goods books and reports on this subject in the media that can guide you to the best method to train your mind for success. Get your mind set in place before launching into a business, assuring you that you will then be much more prepared and confident when you do? So don't get stressed about starting a business, there plenty of help out there, once you have your mind set in place go out there with confidence and build your business, make it exciting, and interesting, have fun, and then you have every chance of becoming successful.

Understand Your Mind

Success in life is determined by the choices we make. The choices we make are determined by how we think and use our brain power. Over the course of your lifetime, patterns of thinking that influence all your decision making are developed. Therefore, it is fair to say the only way you can affect an outcome in your life is to make changes to your thought processes.

So that you can make the necessary changes to your life, it is helpful to get a rudimentary understanding of how the brain works. The mind has been described as - the seat of reason'. The brain is a complicated organ that divides up different tasks among its various parts. You may not be aware that we kind of have two brains - left and right. This is because our brain is separated into two separate halves that perform different duties.

The left side of your brain is best at processing small details, coming up with theories, working with logic to solve problems and working our sequences. It is the left hand side of the brain that is used the most at school. Therefore, measuring its effectiveness is much easier.

The right hand side of the brain is best at thinking of the big picture, coming up with imaginative ideas about the future and asking the big questions. The right hand side uses intuition instead of logic in its reasoning. People with a preference for using the right side tend to struggle more with classical school learning. Typically, they thrive in unstructured learning environments that let them explore the world.

To be truly successful, you want both sides of your brain to be working in harmony with one another. A logical well ordered mind that is capable of moments of intuitive brilliance is a formidable tool. For a minute, think about the area of the brain you rely on the most based on what you now know about it. Does your usage lean towards one half of the brain or do you use both?

The secret of getting a balanced mind is to exercise it regularly. Our minds are at their best when they are being stimulated. Treat your brain with respect and the future rewards could be immense.

We keep our bodies looking young, strong and fit by exercising, and the brain is no different. Some scientists believe that people who do brain workouts are less likely to get Alzheimer's disease.

Scientists have suggested that the brain's short-term memory can get better with training tasks such as memorising the positions of dots on a grid. Card games that use memory may do the same. Doing logic games such as sudoku, chess and crosswords can keep the mind challenged and teach it new skills.

Never think you're too old to keep up-to-date with the news, and with new technology such as the internet and mobile phones: learning new skills keeps new connections forming in the brain.

If you want to keep your brain active, cross-train it with a range of things: not just reasoning tasks such as sudoku but memory tasks, too. The brain remembers by making emotional links. If you're forgetful, think up a picture of what you want to remember, and remember more than one thing by linking these images.

If your mind is well exercised then you are also going to be more resilient to pressures of life. A mind that thinks in a balanced fashion is less likely to fall victim to certain mental complaints. The most mentally well people are good at regulating their emotions. They tend to stay calm, rather than react violently with tears, anger or fear. Learn how to keep your mind calm and you will be better equipped to cope with life.

Keep your breathing relaxed and deep to help control your minds reaction to events. When we feel anxious, our breathing often becomes quick and shallow.Inhale through your nose and breathe deeply into and out of your belly (not your chest). Stay physically relaxed. Exercise, warm baths and stretching are good ways to reduce muscle tension.

Maintain a positive attitude when times are tough by visualising or thinking about something relaxing. Take a few moments to imagine a favourit place, floating in the sea or lying in bed, and you'll switch into a calmer physical state.

What is the ego?

A False Self Image.

• The ego is one's false-self-image.
• Its not something real that one can hold in hands or take a picture of.
• It is just like a reflection to which one is made to identify with.
• In this sense...it can be compared to a reflection on a mirror.

One's Emotional Goalkeeper.

• The ego does the job of allowing only some emotions to pass through while labeling the others as bad and resisting them.
• The ego-cares for you. It thinks that had it not been for its resistance, interference, manipulations and so on...one would be nowhere
• The result...the ego tries to resists some emotions which according to the popular opinion i.e. social conditioning is considered as "bad".
• According to the ego life is going to be ideal/perfect only when ABC happens and that anything other, let's say XYZ should not happen.

MOMENTS when the ego takes roots.

• "If you do this you are a good boy or else a bad boy."
• "Look at JOHN, does he trouble his parents (like you)?"
• "I wish you were like him."
• "You are lazy". (an absolute statement)
• "You are stupid"
• "You are brilliant" (as compared to others).
• "You should be like this." (you are not good enough the way you are now)
• "Life should be lead like this." (Life is not perfect the way it is right now).
• "You are a good boy."
• "I don't know when you will be matured."
• "It is good you are not like him."
• "Thank GOD you are not like the other boys/girls in this society."

Survival strategies for the ego.

Resistance to what is:

• The present moment is not at all perceived as good by the ego.
• It has to be manipulated, changed, moved away, escaped and so on for the ego.
• The ego actually cannot survive for long under the rays of "What is".
• And so...it constantly denies and resists the "What is".
• For the ego...life is all about the past and the future.

Brooding over the past.

• I guess this is self-explanatory.

Strategising for the future. This may not always be planning which is an intelligent activity. It involves living in a dream-world built up of its own thoughts. Thinking, Thinking,Thinking. Thinking is the favorite game as well as the life-blood of the ego. Believe it or not...without thinking...the ego may not be able to survive within one even for a single week. Thinking shields a person from the exposure to "What is".

THE EGO HATES.

  • Allowing things to be just as they are.
  • It only understands manipulation and tampering with stuffs, be it relationships or a journey or your present moment etc.
  • BEING. The ego doesn't even understand being. (Yet the moments that one truly cherishes in life are the moments in which there was no doing but just being. It may be during a first kiss, or first love or during a sexual orgasm and so on).
  • Surrender. The ego wants a confirmation to everything. It may play a victim to life, but surrender? Nopesie-nopesie.
  • The NOW moment. The food of the ego as well as its structure consists of time i.e past and future(this has got nothing to do with the clock time).
  • The thought of being in the NOW also strikes terror for the ego.
  • Time, thinking, doing, achieving that is all it wants.
  • Silence. The ego wants constant chatter, something to chew always, some clatter, some noise, some activity and so some noise. It cannot tolerate silence even for a minute.

Knowledge VS Wisdom

Are you aware that there is a big difference between knowledge and wisdom. Simply stated, knowledge comes from our wonderful minds. It is learned information, and referred to as our intelligence. The mind is logical and programmable and in our left brain. The dictionary says it is, "understanding based on experience." It is like a limited computer, because it only knows what you programmed into it. It does not originate new information, but it is great for recording it and passing it on to others.

In contrast, wisdom comes from our spirit. It is not-programmable and it stems from our right brain. Unlike knowledge, it is not learned. Wisdom is intuitive information that is unlimited. We receive the messages from our inner knowing, vision, and words, and a gut-feeling. All creativity comes from our intuition. That is where original art, music, and inventions, and our brilliant doctors and scientists, etc. come from.

We all have inner wisdom expressed through one or more of the four ways of receiving intuition mentioned above. It goes beyond logic and beyond the physical, and that is why it is called metaphysical. If we only believe what we see with our physical eyes or ears, we are using our knowledge, but not our higher wisdom.

You can also own your all-wise, all-knowing wisdom. Take the time to quiet your mind and tune-into your intuition. Have the courage to trust your inner messages and act on them. It can keep you safe and save you time, energy and money. It can help you enjoy a fun, amazing adventure called life.

The Great Uncertainty

The fear of death and dying, The Great Uncertainty, is the greatest obstacle to personal liberation as it deepens the divide between body and consciousness.

On Death and Dying

How do we know what happens after death?
Has anyone actually come back from the grave
and told us with any authority what happened?

The Spiritual and Religious texts are full of myths and paradigms as to what happens. The teachers and Gurus lead us by the nose throughout our lives
because of the greatest uncertainty of all - what happens during the dying process - and at the death - from which we seek Salvation.

It is the fear of death which is ultimately behind the Spiritual and Religious search for some Self-sense of Immortality -

Some seek Salvation in a utopic Heaven or Shamballah to the point of selling our Souls in penance to avoid the depths of Hades - or even worse, Purgatory .. suspension in Uncertainty.

Almost everyone has their own particular version of the "Great Myth" which they will rigorously defend rather than face their own inner "Great Uncertainty." (and, in the course of my life, I've heard most of them)

Our survival instinct rooted in our fear of Death has become the greatest underlying motivator for all thought and action - hope, need and desire. For some, it is this uncertainty which is behind all inaction - the fear of "What's the point" ..

Yet, even the Buddha, when closely questioned as to what happens after death, refused to be drawn into giving an answer.

Western Spirituality bases its beliefs on passages from the bible concerning the experiences of the one we call Jesus - and even holds this experience up as a reward which we can earn through striving in servitude throughout our earthly lives.

Some even write from personal Near Death Experiences and think they know what it is like after Death .. and even though their experience is very real to them, it is translated through the language of their own preconceptions - their ideas of what it should be like, based on their own (conscious or unconscious) religious beliefs. The NDE, for the most part, is NOT an experience of dying, but the experience of the shock of being separated from the body by accident.

It is an experience of "Death" in the physical sense as the cessation of Life - but it is not the experience of a choice of overcoming the great uncertainty and allowing the experience of an ending of the separation between life and death.

Until this conscious choice can be made, the cycle of death-rebirth still pervades in the individual consciousness.

The fear of death - the final "Great Uncertainty" is that which separates the individual from the collective consciousness and keeps our mind divided into conscious and unconscious. Even the use of the word "Death" as in "dying to the past" is something which awakens a great fear in the "Spiritual Disciple" and initiate.

So much so that some even use terms such as "Awakened" - or "Awakening" - "Enlightenment" or "Self Realisation" to avoid facing the "Great Uncertainty".

A new born child should have reasonable strong recollections of what happens in the period between death and birth. But, then, as we grow up, we are put under the pressures of religion and society by parents and peers who are themselves afraid of the mirror of their own mortality.

The original impressions become faded in the unconscious - except for sudden glimpses which may come in our dreams - or in meditation - and then our conditioned reality of the tangible framework of "living in this world" makes us so suspicious of the experience that we treat it as some sort of bad joke - or dismiss it altogether -

so recreating another cycle of the Great Uncertainty
and an even greater obstacle to personal liberation
as we deepen the divide between body and consciousness.

Key to knowledge and wisdom

Knowledge is acquired through the learning process.
Wisdom is the ability to apply this knowledge through experience, without having to think about what you are doing.

From within the silence and stillness of the mind and body comes the remembering. Within the remembering of the core of knowledge, past learned, lies the inherent knowing of the body stored as experience. This is the source of spiritual wisdom. Beyond that lies the Absolute.

Insights from the Silence

There is a difference between Wisdom and Knowledge. There are many who are book-learned, who have attended courses, who have searched for an understanding of Life, Religious Philosophy, Spirituality and the relationship between these.

Just because we have been taught something or read it in a book somewhere does not mean that what we have acquired as knowledge can be put into practical application. It is only when the words are alive within us that we can explain and interpret without repeating or quoting the words of often long dead authors like a parrot.

People spend their whole lives searching for knowledge
in attempt to gain wisdom .. to understand Why ..?
to understand the meaning of their incarnation.

Inherent, in the silence beyond the chatter of the mind, from the remembering, if allowed, come the original vibrations of ancient spiritual wisdom. These are the Keys of Kknowledge within the core, the genetic memory records of the body stored in the DNA. These same Keys of Knowledge can also be found in the past life records of the soul, stored in what some call Akasha.

The Keys of Knowledge and Wisdom lie in the true Silence, beyond the mind that thinks it knows, in the realms of Brahmin, Atman and Non-duality. It is the individual mind who has create the duality of words from a knowing which is not knowledge based

Often, people who take responsibility do not pray, and those who pray do not take responsibility.

Every religion has three aspects; values, symbols and practices. There is diversity in practices and in symbols, where values are common in all religions.

The growth of fanaticism, fundamentalism and intolerance in the world is happening because people are stuck in only the practices, symbols or customs while forgetting the values.

Spirit loves diversity.

There is not just one type of fruit, one type of people, or one type of animal in this world. So let's not confine the spirit to a uniform. Let's enjoy the diverse variety of creation by honouring, respecting and loving them all.

We used to use the term "religious tolerance". I think that these words have become obsolete now, Your tolerate only which you don't love.

The time has come to love each other's religions as one's own.

A religion is great not just because it in mine; it is great because of what it is, This understanding in all the priests and clergymen and those who lead people in spiritual and religious light, will put an end to the fanaticism and fundamentalism going on in our beautiful world.

It will be very nice if together, we all adopt a resolution that we will educate our people to know a little bit from every religion in order to have broader vision about life. Without prayer and meditation, which are the spiritual aspects of life, religion becomes dry.

See love inside you and that is meditation; see God in the person next to you and that is service.

Service and medication go hand in hand. The previous century has been an era of uniforms and unions. Now let us move to an era of communion. With these few words , I pray and I take responsibility , both at the same time.

The Power of Positivity

Many people want to improve their lives. They want things to be better, to come easier. They want all the things they hear other people talk about…money, happiness, health, freedom, and more. Many of them read and read and read but they never quite know where to start.

The best place to start is your own attitude. You need to focus on being positive! Why?

Being positive is a big key to being excited. And life is so much better when you are excited! And when you are positive and excited, you are sending a powerful signal to everyone, to life the universe and everything, that this is how you are and what you expect of it. You will then begin to naturally attract more people, things, and events to keep you positive. You are simply leading by example.

Be careful, because it works the other way too. If you are a complainer, a whiner, or a gossiper you will naturally attract other people who like to complain, whine, and gossip. And when was the last time you saw one of these people be truly successful? You set the tone for the people around you. If you are positive when everyone else is negative you will either raise the group to your level or a new group will form around that attitude. People like being around positive people.

Being positive is also a key to staying motivated. Most people can get themselves motivated for a little while. A couple of hours, a few days, maybe even a month or two. Any real level of success requires you to keep going for years and that is much harder. By keeping positive and setting the example of what you expect of everyone around you, your positivity will keep you motivated when nothing else will. You’ll see the silver lining in clouds, the opportunity in setbacks, and the potential of the people around you when even they do not.

When you are in a leadership position, it is of course all the more important to set the example of a positive attitude. Here, you are clearly more responsible for setting the tone of your own environment. Remember to reward and praise positivity on your team. Don’t let meetings or even just the normal workday become a complaint session. Once it starts it is hard to stop, so make sure you are encouraging the right attitudes. Talk to your people when you are feeling positive, excited, and enthusiastic. Avoid holding meetings with them when you are not feeling that way. If you just aren’t feeling it, there is an old saying “fake it till you make it”. If you ACT positive and enthusiastic you can’t help but feel that way after a while.

Don’t expect perfection on your new policy of positivity, either. Everyone gets down, depressed, discourage and that’s ok. One of the easiest ways to fail is to expect everything to go right 100% of the time, so allow some room for you to be a normal person. Don’t let yourself get bogged down in these problems, solve them and move on. If you hit a roadblock you just can’t get past, try a different route and stay positive. At the very least you learned a great lesson about how NOT to do it. Thomas Edison was famous for having tried 10,000 different ways of making the first lightbulb. But he never allowed himself to think of these as failures…he just learned different ways to not make it and eventually he just narrowed it down!

If you let yourself fall back into bad attitudes, you are almost guaranteeing failure…no amount of smarts, talent, creativity, or good looks will help.

Don’t let other people change you. Many people have chosen their little rut. They are happy and content…so long as no-one reminds them that they are indeed in a rut. If you start to succeed, they will naturally try to pull you back down so they are not reminded of their own failures. Man promising people fall victim to this peculiar habit of people.

Always remember that 90% of winning is having a positive attitude, and that is 100% in your control!

The Simple Mathematics of Happiness

Add appreciation and gratitude to your every day.

Enhance the world around you with your smile.

Smiling creates endorphins which send feel good messages to the brain.

It’s healing to you and those who receive it.

Subtract any grudges you’ve been holding on to.

For they reside within you.

The only person you hurt is yourself.

Learn to let go.

Time exists in the present.

What is done is in the past.

It’s history.

Take away what’s good in life.

Nourish it, so it increases and expands.

Come from inspiration, not from memory.

What will be depends on what you think about and act on now.

So discard negative thinking.

It’s energy, and like all energy, it’s creative.

Why waste the brilliant opportunity of thought?

Demonstrating a positive attitude gives others permission to do the same.

Willingness is all it takes.

Share your time, experience, knowledge, passion and joy with others.

You can add so much to someone’s life.

The result of your giving will have a rippling effect multiplying your good out into the world.

Give from the heart without agenda to receive the benefits pure energy returns.

Expand your willingness to experience new things and court opportunity.

Nothing great happens without stretching yourself.

Live life as a curious observer rather than a critic or judge.

It is in the judgments that we become divided.

We become fragmented, and separate.

So take away the blinders that have held you back in the past.

Thought, words and actions are the most important equation of life.

Use them wisely to yield positive returns.

Feeling Good is a Choice

It is. But not the choice you probably think it is.

“Stuff happens, moods and feelings happen, emotions happen, it’s how it is. Sometimes I feel good and sometimes not…right?” Yeah. Kinda.

Feelings don’t just happen, you create them.

You feel good when certain things happen and bad when other things happen. You feel good when you’re wearing a new shirt. You go out and you’re walking on golden wisps of happy sunshine, owning the night. Then your lucky shirt breaks. Why?

The shirt was never lucky. You made it lucky. Really. You decided that it was your lucky shirt. Then it wears off, pardon the pun, when you’ve worn it a few times or whatever other condition that you’ve made up for it to not make you feel good anymore is fulfilled.

What made you feel good was the meaning you attached to the shirt. Same thing with everything.

Everything that happens is neutral. Like Switzerland or the colour beige. Neutral. Everything that happens is as it is. Even the most heart-wrenching or magnificently glorious moment is just a situation. You feel things about it because you make it into a story…and you’re invariably the star of the story so it seems super important but it’s still just a story. Just a situation.

You feel good or bad because you attach meaning to that situation.

What’s interesting is that it’s all automated, this whole system of giving meaning to situations and feeling a certain way as a result. It’s so automated that we don’t even notice it happening.

See, you have a certain set of rules or conditions in your mind that when certain things happen, you feel good. And other things that happen make you feel bad.

But then if feeling good is something you’re creating when certain things happen, why not just drop the whole condition thing and feel good all the time? Throw a spanner in the automated process of giving meaning to things and stop letting how you feel be controlled by it.

Might be tough at first to allow yourself to feel good all the time but what you can do is to stay neutral and not attach meaning to whatever happens. When something bad happens, it happens. It doesn’t mean anything unless you make it mean something.

Stop creating stories about things that happen. Stop giving things meaning. Things happen. It’s done. Let it go.

Easier said than done? Maybe. At times, definitely…

When something seemingly bad happens, it’s just a situation. Don’t call it good or bad. See it for what it is, a situation. Creating stories, creating feelings about it will make you feel worse. Just stay neutral about it.

…so a little practice that I find really helps is allowing yourself to become transparent to whatever happens. Whenever something happens and you feel an emotion come over you, literally imagine and feel yourself becoming transparent, almost as though you dissolve so that the feeling can’t get trapped in you. You don’t grab whatever happens and turn it into a feeling, it just gently goes through you and dissolves.

That will help break the cycle of continuously giving meaning to things.

You don’t even need to choose to give things positive meanings to make yourself feel good ala “seeing the best in everything” because feeling good isn’t about creating the feeling. It’s about not creating other feelings that cover up your natural state of limitless bliss. Feeling good is your natural state.

You don’t need to make yourself feel good. Just stop making yourself feel bad.

When you stop making things important and allowing your feelings to be controlled by what happens, you stop covering the indescribable magnificence of your true nature - essence of feeling good, the source of all good feeling - and you are reconnect to that which you are, instead of thinking that you are your stories. You stop making yourself feel bad and you feel good all the time.

Edit: In light of a few comments and questions, i’d like to clear something up…

It’s not about trying to feel good all the time. It’s not about trying to feel anything. The idea is to stop giving meaning to situations so that you can experience the situation instead of the stories and feelings you create about it. Contrary to the title, it’s not even about making a choice to feel good. The choice is to stop layering things over true experience, and that feels good. A whole lot better than manufactured good feeling.

Choose to not be controlled by your stories.
Choose to stop giving meaning to things.

Feeling good is a choice.
Make that choice.

A Comfortable State of Mind and Body

Yoga Guru Patanjali has defined Yoga as a ‘steady and comfortable state of Mind and Body’. And, a comfortable and steady state of body and mind is precisely what practising yoga delivers. Other forms of exercise increase the strain on body muscles, as well as, the requirement for blood and oxygen. But, Yoga ‘asanas’ or postures not only lessen the need, decreasing the strain on them, they also cause every muscle in the body to relax. Similarly, the body’s requirement for blood and oxygen goes down, reducing the strain on the mind and making it stable and focused.

Furthermore, the twists and stretched yoga asanas or postures compel the organs of the body, such as, the endocrine glands, the digestive, heart and other organs to function in an improved manner. And, all this can be achieved with even the most simple of Yoga asanas!

Practised in India for centuries, this ancient practice is elaborated in great detail in sub-continental historical treatises and texts! As in everything else, India is beginning to show the world how to heal the mind and body, without resorting to the swallowing of heavy doses of poisonous chemicals in the guise of medicine, or expensive surgery and psychiatric treatment. Prevention is better than cure, and practicing Yoga not only prevents an individual from falling sick, it also helps to recover a healthy state of mind and body!

Furthermore, the twists and stretched yoga asanas or postures compel the organs of the body, such as, the endocrine glands, the digestive, heart and other organs to function in an improved manner.

Gaining Wisdom

Wisdom eludes me. The more I learn, the less I think I know. Maybe it’s
because when I learn something new I realize how much more there is
to know. And by that I mean, how much we can know, not how much we
must know. It’s perpetual. I strive to learn more, but sometimes I feel I
don’t know enough.

Wait a minute, wisdom isn’t just knowledge! It isn’t how many books
you’ve read or how many degrees you have. Wisdom can’t be learned
just by reading, it must be gained as well. Wisdom collects, and is
gained from experience and consideration. No matter how much you try,
you won’t become wise just learning stuff.

Wisdom is found in the application of knowledge, the awareness that
comes from the analysis of our world and life, through learning and
experiencing.

Think deeper. When you toss a stone into a pond you’re immediately
aware of the ripples and the splash, but it doesn’t stop there. Even
though your mind forgets the stone because it’s gone from sight, the
stone continues its journey to the bottom of the pond. We can think
about the stuff we can’t see.

When we’re seeking knowledge we shouldn’t skim the surface and
ignore the lessons within the lessons. The deeper considerations are
where wisdom hides. Things we learn on one subject may intersect with
points of another subject, we need to examine those connections. Even
if the connections are not obvious at first, once made, the proverbial light bulb goes on and we’re one step closer.

Gain: Increasing the level by increasing the amplitude.

Depth. More than a little. Wisdom is gained. It’s about what lies beyond
the zero point in a wavelength. It’s looking toward the outside, while
looking in.

Brain Training Exercise

Leaving the health of your brain to chance is to be discouraged, this is one reason you need to train and exercise it in order to harness its true potentials and worth.

You must have come across and equally heard of various types of exercises, but that of brain training exercise… PHEW! this is totally new if not to be considered strange.

This is very true when you consider the fact that the topic of this article in itself is raising questions as to whether there is even anything as such as brain exercise let alone determining whether it is at all practicable.

One statement of fact you cannot disprove is that the health of your brain is an important contributor to the quality of life you live as an individual. The significant role it plays in your daily routine, pursuits in life and as you age cannot be undermined.

Your brain contributes largely to your achievements and the state of your well being physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically, etc.

Many people never get to discover the hidden potentials their brain possesses and as such settle for a less than average lifestyle while comforting themselves with the different notions and mindsets such as:

1. We cannot all be geniuses.

2. We cannot all be rich and wealthy.

3. Some individuals are more gifted or endowed with special skills than others.

4. Some people (in the minority) have ’superior’ or ’super’ brains than many others (in the majority).

5. Some people are more advantaged than others.

Blah, blah, blah… and so many other excuses and reasons that are normally given in defense of feats performed and extraordinary achievements certain individuals record or make in life.

Within you and inside your skull (the house provided for your brain by GOD) lies an important organ that possesses potentials beyond human imagination and comprehension.

You will need to realize this and then seek for ways and means by which you can develop and train it to perform optimally for you in order to benefit and enjoy the wealth your brain possesses.

In the academia, sports, science and technology, politics, behavioural sciences, government, in the field of medicine, business and trade, etc a handful of individuals continue to distinguish themselves from the generality of people by the outstanding discoveries made and astonishing achievements and breakthroughs recorded in life simply because these have distinguished themselves in their area of specialisation or field of endeavour by tasking their brain and utilising the resources available at their disposal.

In the face of challenges and odds common with life, these individuals have discovered a way and a means to cheat circumstances and situations and have been able to turn the tables around in their favour; they are celebrated, renowned and have become role models, some have earned the honour of becoming pacesetters while others are household names already.

The distinguishing trait to all these men and women, boys and girls is that they devoted time, effort and attention to determining the health of their brain, developing it to its full potentials and also in applying it in their area of specialisation and/or field of endeavour.

With your daily living, life can become more sweet, enjoyable and fulfilling beyond its present level while your experience can become more profound as you get to determine the health of your brain; and in seeking a way or means by which you can harness its full potentials through training and exercise.

Everything can be trained and developed in order to enjoy the benefits and potentials available, your brain can too. Exercise your brain the more and see life unfold in a new form before you. Ways and means by which you can exercise your brain are numerous

Sources Of Knowledge - How To Gain Knowledge In Any Field

We all continually learn new things in life. Constantly increasing our knowledge is essential if we are to progress further or develop ourselves.

Whatever field we are involved in, we always have to look for ways and means to expand our knowledge. Increase in knowledge in a particular subject can lead to better understanding, grasp, judgment, intelligence and ability in that area. It can expand our thinking and heighten our expertise on a topic.

So how do we go about gaining knowledge? What are the sources of knowledge? Below I am listing a few sources from which we gain knowledge in any field.

1. People:

I think people are the biggest source of knowledge for anybody. Right from childhood, we have learned things by watching others. Whatever field you want to gain knowledge in, there must be many who have enough experience in that field.

So make use of this valuable source of information by learning from the experience, accomplishments, mistakes and expertise of others. Study carefully and associate with people who are experts in the field you want to gain knowledge about.

2. Books:

The next best source of knowledge can be books. There are millions and millions of books written throughout the world in every language and on almost any topic imaginable. Whatever problem you are facing must have been faced by somebody else before, and its solution is likely to have been preserved in the form of a book. If you are serious about gaining knowledge on a topic, then read any book, magazine, article etc. you can lay your hands on related to that topic. Read as much as you can.

3. Experience:

This is another important resource for the seeker of knowledge. It is said that experience is a great teacher, so learn from your past experiences and the experience of others. Learn from your and others’ past and present achievements as well as mistakes.

4. Experimentation and observation:

Experimentation is to try out new things and observation is to pay attention to small and big details.

If you want to learn something new, you may have to experiment and observe a lot. You would need to explore in deep, try out new things to see what works and what does not. Observe not just your own efforts, but also of others.

Experimenting new things and observation can help you in learning very quickly. People who do not experiment or observe much may take a long time to learn. Keep in mind though, that while experimenting, you may encounter a few failures too. Do not become discouraged as failures are a part of the learning curve, specially while attempting something new. Try to learn from failures instead of becoming disheartened.

5.Thinking and pondering:

While learning a new thing, you need to concentrate a lot. Just reading lots of books is not sufficient as you need to fully grasp what you are reading. Deep understanding about a subject is likely to come only through deep thinking and contemplation.

Ponder over what you have read, observed, experienced or experimented. Isn’t is wise to make sure you have fully understood a thing before moving further?

Shine Out Your Idea

Shine out your ideal before it fizzles out of existence; make it real brighten out to your world. Had a bright idea lately? Great! Your amazing mind is doing just fine. However, here’s the question that makes the difference between a bright idea that grows dim and a bright idea that shines. After you got the idea, what did you do next? And that’s the question that really counts because the answer determines whether your idea will sparkle in the daylight or disappear from your internal field of vision.

If you want your idea to shine, you will have to do something with it. I’ve designed a simple, yet powerful technique that jump starts your mind and helps you get started turning that bring idea into a shining success. Let your mind make a picture of your idea in finished form. Then step into that picture and see what happens. Does this strike you as a new application of an old idea? It should! Actually, you have already done this more than you realize. We do this almost every time we plan a party or vacation.

Unconsciously, the imagination makes a mental image and we “step into” this picture. In our mind’s eye, the scenes of our intended event flash before us. Without realizing it, we explore possibilities with inner dialogs like “What if I do this or that? What if I make this different? What if I change that?”

I’ve discovered that this is the first thing to do with your idea. Let it suggest images and let those images flash across your mind’s eye. Use these initial moments to explore possibilities and try out exciting options. And since you’ve made a good start, keep going!..

Here’s my simple technique that will help you make a few simple alterations and energize your mind to transform the imagined situation into a real one. Take a deep breath. Elevate your gaze as if looking at an imaginary point just above a distant horizon. Call to mind your bright idea. Let your imagination form a mental picture that represents the ultimate successful result of your bright idea. See this scene as if through your own eyes. How does this scene look as you perceive it from just behind your eyes? Make this “bright idea” image brighter as if you just turned on several powerful lights. Sharpen the focus and allow the colors to become more vivid.

Now move the image closer in your mental field of vision as if you just moved up several rows in a movie theater. Add the sounds and sensations you might hear and feel as you see this image in real time. Notice how this enhanced image radiates emotional power and impact. And notice how this image affects you and how it generates enthusiasm. While holding on to this feeling, get into action!

Meditation - The Key to a Stress-Free Life

Meditation is like restarting a computer system. Scientists say that a single man’s brain is similar to that of a library that can store information. Just like a computer hard drive, one’s brain needs to recharge.

What Is Meditation?

“Meditation” comes from two Latin words: “meditari, ” which means to think, and “mederi, ” which means to heal. “Medha” is its Sanskrit deviation, which means to heal.

Most of us would see meditation as a worship or prayer. However, a meditation means awareness. Whatever you do that involves awareness, it is meditation. Being aware of one’s breathing is an example of meditation.

It is not an exercise or technique, but it is a way of life. It is a state of consciousness where one stops but processes. All activities of the mind are reduced to one.

Meditation allows people to contemplate on their thoughts and feelings, and usually, they develop this calmer perspective. It may not be very productive for some, but the inner peace that one achieves when meditating is invaluable.

What Are Its Benefits?

Meditation does not only improve one’s own physical health but also mental, emotional, and spiritual health. It relaxes the mind and increases one’s focus to things that matter the most to you.

The common benefits include increase in patience, enjoyment of life, and feelings of serenity and building self-confidence. It can also help in dealing with repressed memories and resolving phobias and panic attacks.

How to Do It

Medication requires constant practice. Five minutes a day can be a good start. You don’t have to cross your legs but choose a very comfortable position. Close your eyes and clear your mind of things that you have been thinking lately. This is the hardest part yet that is the challenge: eliminating all intellectual thoughts to give way to tranquility. Once the thoughts are gone, you can now focus on your breathing. Don’t expect to do it perfectly the first time, though.

How to make your goles come alive

Most of us know that we have to set goals in order to accomplish things in life. Before goals can be set, we should ponder what it is we actually want out of life. What are the reasons we are here and what would we like to do before we leave the world.

Too many people get caught up with day to day living that they forget about their goals. Goal setting may seem like too much work to add one more thing to the plate. But if a goal is to ever get accomplished, it has to start somewhere.

One of the first things we can do is create vivid images in our minds. When we create images in our mind, we have the power to turn those images into physical manifestations. Think about those images at least once a day in a down time minute. Everyone has a minute they can think about something. When you go for a drink of water for example, think about your goals and what you can do to one step closer.

It is important to set goals because they give us meaning and add direction to our lives. Without any goals at all, many people wander aimlessly through life, and before you know it, the end is approaching.

So many people do not accomplish their goals because they put them off as another chore. When a goal is looked at as a chore, it probably means that the goal was not set specifically and measurably. We have to set time tables and stick to them when it comes to our goals. Time is a rapidly moving thing and time will go by whether you accomplish your goal or not.

When we set specific goals, we are able to take action in small steps. We know exactly what we want and what is required to get there. Once we know exactly what is required, only then can we measure how long it will take to get there. Often times, goals seem too long to accomplish that we give up. Take chunks of your goals and break them up into smaller accomplishments and before you know it, you have fully accomplished the entire goal.

Applied Knowledge is Power

We have all heard the term, “Knowledge Is Power.” The term in fact is very true, the more knowledge that you can acquire, the more you open yourself to opportunities that did not exist in your life. But there is one big problem with this power of knowledge.

The biggest problem with “Knowledge Is Power” is that many people are not using this power. The reality is that knowledge alone is not power. What good is it to have all the knowledge in the world if this knowledge is not applied in any way, shape or form?

A man or woman can have a million brilliant ideas floating around in their minds. There are some extremely creative people in the world, but something seems to happen to a lot of them when it comes to actually taking action. There is sort of a delay in the mind that they will someday get to it.

So what happens to those ideas? They get put on the back burner and more new ideas come to the surface because creative people are always thinking of new things, so the old ideas are washed away.

This is a vicious cycle that repeats itself over and over again and nothing ever gets accomplished. The ideas are there and many of them are brilliant indeed, but if the knowledge one has acquired is not applied, then knowledge is wasted.

Maybe we should rethink the term and begin saying, “Applied Knowledge is Power.

Life's gains, misses

Manisha Gupta writes - The little gift my husband's friend's mother gave me when they came over to our place recently. I opened this beautiful, flower shaped golden and white box inquisitively to see what it contained.

you can't believe my surprise and excitement at finding another, identical but slightly smaller box inside the first one. My curiosity and anxiety rising, I opened the second box only to find yet another smaller identical version of it.

I was really curious, my excitement heightened and imagination flying beyond control as to what gift could fit into such a tiny, cute box. With trembling hands, exited mind and a fluttering heart, I opened this little, decorated container, only to find nothing inside.

But it taught me a big lesson. It dawned upon me that this is precisely what life is. You go from one layer to another, from one event to the next, from this end to the other with thrill and excitement, anxiety and curiosity and go on unfolding the mystery of life at every corner, But little do you realise that at the end of it all, there is nothing, Just emptiness, a vacuum to be precise.

And it is all about our expectations.

We get thrilled when our expectations are met, and we get into a 'low' when we find nothing. That's how we err in the journey of life. We fail to realise that life is like a game of gains and misses.

So, we must learn to enjoy unraveling the mysteries of life, have fun going through it, keep the excitement on while crossing all the hurdles and difficulties because you never know which "box" is the last one.

And be always a happy walker in the journey of life because life is in the journey, destination is only death. Even death turns out pleasant if your journey is pleasant. The "boxes" may or may not contain anything, but your attitude should always be: enjoy the process of discovery.

Ways to oneness

There may be hundreads of ways to uplift and heal one's self. But by and large, all of them fall into four distinct categories. These four categories, as enunciated by inspiration writer Vassant Joshi, are: Karuna (extend yourself), Maitri (friendliness), Mudita (cheerfulness with gratitude), and Upeksha (non-expecting involvement).

In his book, If it could happen to the buddha, Why not you? Joshi gives the ways on how it can happen. The first step is to "celebrate in giving" and not giving to celebrate". Giving and sharing yourself joyfully is the mantra that increases the beauty and strength of your inner self.

Not only with human beings and other living things, one has to develop a keen sense of care and protection towards inanimate objects too. One has to develop to an extent that one sees others' joys and sorrows as a part of one's own. Oneness is the target to be achieved.

Friendliness and not friendship is the next step. In friendship, you are deeply involved; but in friendliness, you are equipped with the key to detachment. In friendliness, you see all through the same lense. And people belonging to various religions fall into a common and greater religion; the religion of humanity. Joshi calls it "active passion," and I call it "detached attachment".

All this requires cheerfulness and joyous attitude. being cheerful enables one to lead a positive and quality life. Only such a person can go towards the path of oneness, and have a sense of gratitude.

And, lastly, it has to be hard work without any obsessive passion for results. As they say, do you work sincerely and well, and leave the rest to Him. Because, exceptions, at times, land you in tragic endings. So, give your all with no rewards in mind.

Hard work itself is a great reward as it gives your mind peace, and your body good health, Only those work hard who are mentally and bodily fully satisfied.

Puncture your ego

Having conquered half the world and having ruined hundreds of towns and cities in his ego-driven quest, King Alexander reached India and found himself lost in a vast desert. With no water in sight for days, his thirst became unbearable.

He came across an old beggar who had a pot of drinking water, but the latter asked,"what will you give me in lieu of this pot of water?" Alexander, who had not seen a drop of water for almost a week, offered half of his kingdom. The beggar said, "Come tomorrow, as I want not half but your entire kingdom."

Alexander agreed to trade his entire kingdom for the pot of water. The beggar laughed and said,"So the worth of your kingdom is just a pot of water." Alexander realised his mistake and went back, but died on his way.

There is a story of a disciple who went to a Guru to learn martial arts. After sustained practice, the disciple became an invincible sword fighter."Why should I now bow before the Guru, whom I can easily defeat in sward fight?" The impudent disciple challenged his Guru for a sword fight. The Guru accepted the challenge.

One day the disciple learnt that the Guru was getting an eight-feet- long sword made for the dual so that he could attack the disciple from a safe distance. In response , the disciple arranged a 10 feet-long sword. however, the disciple did not know that the eight feet sheath of the Guru contained only a one -foot-long sharp sword.

On the appointed day, as the dual started, the disciple scrambled to take out his sword out of his sheath. The Guru quickly brought out his sword and placed it on the disciple's neck, who know pleaded for mercy.

The Guru forgave his disciple and said,"Always keep a small sword in your big sheath if you want to win". In other words, even when you occupy high posts, or acquire exceptional capabilities, your ego should always be small.

10 steps to success

Charles Knight the world famous management guru and CEO of a major US corporation was sent for a tough blue-collared job in a foundry plant during the summer by his father at the age of 15, Later, he continued his journey on the path of practical learning at various countries. At 30, he revolted against his parents' grand plan and instead of joining family business joined Emerson Electric, turned it into a best-managed company and rose to the level of its youngest-ever chairman.

What was it that propelled him to the top? Fortunately, we have all this from him as his 10 point philosophy of life.

1 - Setting priorities. Health comes first without which we have nothing . your family comes second and profession comes third. Once the first and two are organised, the third is taken care of automatically.

2 - Ability to grab tough problems and not hand them over to others. The burnt of making hard decision to be owned by the leader only.

3 - Set the demand standards of excellence. Mediocrity is directly proportionate to compromise; and once the leader compromises, the whole organisation has to compromise.

4 - Sense of urgency: It is always better to do something than doing nothing at all.

5 - Attention to details. Getting facts is the key to good decision-making.

6 - Commitment: Performance can never be ensured without the commitment. A committed
fellow is the person who doesn't fly into the town on the morning of the meeting, but flies a night before.

7 - Never worry about things you can't do anything. Concentrate on the possibilities.

8 - Temperament and ability to digest failures. No innovation is possible unless a person is willing to accept mistakes.

9 - Be tough but fair with people. Being tough means setting standards and demanding performance. A leader is not supposed to compromise in choosing people. he cannot let emotions get in the way while making a choice.

10 - Fun: It means working and let colleagues work in a self-motivated, tension-free and relaxed atmosphere.
