What was it that propelled him to the top? Fortunately, we have all this from him as his 10 point philosophy of life.
- Setting priorities. Health comes first without which we have nothing . your family comes second and profession comes third. Once the first and two are organised, the third is taken care of automatically.
- Ability to grab tough problems and not hand them over to others. The burnt of making hard decision to be owned by the leader only.
- Set the demand standards of excellence. Mediocrity is directly proportionate to compromise; and once the leader compromises, the whole organisation has to compromise.
- Sense of urgency: It is always better to do something than doing nothing at all.
- Attention to details. Getting facts is the key to good decision-making.
- Commitment: Performance can never be ensured without the commitment. A committed
fellow is the person who doesn't fly into the town on the morning of the meeting, but flies a night before.
- Never worry about things you can't do anything. Concentrate on the possibilities.
- Temperament and ability to digest failures. No innovation is possible unless a person is willing to accept mistakes.
- Be tough but fair with people. Being tough means setting standards and demanding performance. A leader is not supposed to compromise in choosing people. he cannot let emotions get in the way while making a choice.
- Fun: It means working and let colleagues work in a self-motivated, tension-free and relaxed atmosphere.
